Join us for a conference with plenary speakers and workshops centered on the unique opportunities and challenges surrounding preaching in the urban context in 2021-2022. 

Presented in conjunction with Alliance Theological Seminary.

Dr. Abraham Cho

Senior Director of Training, City to City NYC and North America

Dr. Abe Cho has more than 20 years of pastoral ministry experience including 14 years as a pastor at Redeemer Presbyterian Church in NY and 6 years as Senior Pastor of Redeemer Presbyterian Church East Side. Cho's leadership within the Asian American community creates opportunities for City to City to theologically strengthen the leadership of practitioners in diverse cities. Abe's gifts as a preacher, teacher, and church leader have shown a proven ability to have deep biblical frameworks that integrate a  vision for justice and reconciliation into Christian leadership.

Dr. David Ireland

Lead Pastor, Christ Church

Dr. David Ireland is founder and senior pastor of Christ Church, a 9,000-member multisite congregation in North Jersey representing over 70 nationalities. Former diversity consultant to the National Basketball Association, Dr. Ireland has led chapel services for the New York Giants, New York Jets, and at the U.S. Pentagon. Ireland has traveled to more than 75 nations and built a reputation of teaching culturally relevant messages that inspire and empower his global audiences. Dr. Ireland is the author of over 20 books including Raising a Child Who Prays and One in Christ. Through his community development corporation, he offers a home for victims of domestic violence.

Jennifer Jones Austin

CEO, Federation of Protestant Welfare Agencies

Jennifer Jones Austin has devoted her career to fighting for equal opportunity for all, with a keen focus on dismantling systemic barriers for persons of color, women, and children. A fourth-generation leader of faith and social justice, she is the CEO and Executive Director of FPWA, an anti-poverty policy and advocacy nonprofit with 170 member organizations; its work is centered on economic opportunity and upward mobility. She is a radio host, an author, and public speaker, and sits on the board of many organizations including the National Action Network, the Feerick Center for Social Justice, the Center for Law, Brain and Behavior, and the NYC Board of Correction for which she is Chair. Jennifer is the chairperson and a commissioner of the NYC Racial Justice Commission, the first commission of its kind in the nation tasked with targeting and dismantling structural and institutional racism across the city.

Dr. Charles Galbreath

Lead Pastor, Clarendon Road Church

In addition to his responsibilities at Clarendon Road Church in Brooklyn, Pastor Charles also has the privilege of serving as the Associate Dean and Partnering Professor at Alliance Theological Seminary in New York City. In 2017, he was elected to the Board of Directors for the Christian and Missionary Alliance denomination. Pastor Charles currently serves on New York City Mayor’s Sector Advisory Council for COVID-19, Brooklyn Community Board 17, the SUNY Downstate Medical Center’s Community Advisory Board, he is the treasurer of the 67th Precinct Clergy Council and the chairperson of New York State Senator Kevin Park’s Census Complete Count Committee. Pastor Charles previously served as a member of the District Executive Committee for the Metropolitan District of the C&MA, Co-Chair of the 45th Council District Committee in Brooklyn, NY, and as Vice President of the Association of African American Church of the C&MA.
